EVA ALORDIAH

Eva began her Music career in 2009 when she hopped on the Lil Wayne 'a millie' instrumental. Right after the release of the song, she went fully into music head on. Teaming up with Cartiair in 2009, she was featured on the remix of 'Owo ati Swagger' alongside Gino, Terry tha Rapman and the Late Dagrin. The song which on to become nominated in several award shows for the season including 'Best Collaboration in a Video' at the Soundcity Music Video Awards became one of the biggest songs of the year and mapped a very good path for the young female emcee. To build a fanbase for herself, Eva began to record songs and offered them as Free music, each one with its own unique feel. Whether she was doing a cover of a previously made song, or an original, she gave it her best. With songs/singles like 'i Stay' over a Yanni original, 'Relentless' which was produced for her by T.K, and '[1]' over the DJ Premier produced song for Gangstarr of the same title, Eva has proved time and again the depth of her rap skills. In 2011, she announced the release of her first body of work titled 'the GIGO EP' which is to be released before her debut album. Asked why she wasn't releasing a mixtape first like other rappers would, she states 'I want to give the fans an original taste of my music, original beats from me to them. This is going to be a compilation of several different me's, its probably my only chance to be anything and everything i want to be in a compilation. Right after this, my debut album follows.' 'the GIGO EP' is said to contain songs in several genres, showcasing Eva' versatility and style. The first singles off the project '[2] produced by award winning producer of the year Sossick and 'Down low' produced by multi talented producer, Tintin, were released early in 2011. The songs which have gone on to become fan favorites have received massive airplay and earned Eva a top spot in the league of female rappers in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.The 'GIGO EP'is set to be released on the 20th of November,2011. BENITA OKOGIE

Born just 15 years ago and already a household name in Nigeria, Benita debuted in 1988 with her chart-bursting album, Child of God." Long before now, at about three weeks old, she appeared with a musical legend (Sunny Okosun) in a TV musical prom titled "WOMAN" in 1988. During the FIFA sponsored football fiesta named Nigeria '99. Aituaje Iruobe is a Nigerian born singer and songwriter that goes by the stage name- Waje. She was born on September 1st. (year unknown) WAJE stands for 'Words aren't just enough'. She started singing professionally in 2005. She has since released several songs. "Kolo" won her Best new video at the Nigerian Music Video Awards. OMAWUNMI

Omawumi *Sigh*. My beautiful, wonderful crush, Omawumi (Omawumi Megbele). If I wanted to do partia I’ll put her at #1, but I’ll refrain from that. Omawumi has probably had the biggest year of anyone on this list, and for good reason. Omawumi the semi finalist of West African Idol 2007, burst into the scene shortly after the show, and gave us a wonderful track, “In The Music” where she seriously stamped her name in our minds as a voice to be reckoned with. I don’t really think I need to justify this pick too much. The proof is in the music. Her songs, Love Nwantinti, Today na Today, and Niger Delta speak for themselves. BOUQUI

Bouqui is another lady we can't stop applauding for her achievements in the industry. Born Bukola Folayan, she is the first female to release a Rap album in Nigeria. Born to a professor of Biochemistry father and a teacher mother, she grew up in the academic atmosphere of the Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife) and this has served as a big influence on her deep lyrical style and cosmopolitan outlook. Her Christian faith was however a strong factor in the formation of the Bouqui brand. An alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and an accomplished broadcaster at Eko FM, Lagos, Bouqui started her professional career with an all-girl group called G-Vibes several years before going solo and changing her focus and style to suit contemporary musical trends and still deliver in terms of message and emotion. The album titled B.O.U.Q.U.I was her debut and the album can be referred to as a two-in-one package, due to the fact that it contains a record-breaking fourteen tracks and four skits, the highest by any debutante in the Nigerian music industry. Still on breaking records, her lead single Get It Started, in less than a month, debuted as number one the backyard beats segment of the PJ Butter-hosted World Chart Show, also another first by any home- based artiste in the history of Nigerian music.
